Making The Cut #1 | Weight-loss Diary

making the cut - weightloss diaryIt’s time to take my cut seriously. For those who are unfamiliar with a ‘Cut’ or ‘Cutting’, it stands for ‘cutting calories’ so basically a nicer word for a diet! Personally, I am not a big fan of diets, never lasted long enough to see results and find them quite restricting. I also like the fact a Cut makes it sound more professional, like I am an athlete who takes my health seriously or something haha!

I am just a girl who is trying her hardest to shift the pounds and become a happier and healthier version of myself. I love the gym, that’s the easy part now, it’s just focusing on my food and nutrition. I have been hitting a plateau the last weeks, purely down to my food. I seem to eat well in the mornings and lunchtime but when it gets to the evenings I just turn into some ravenous monster. It’s not even down to being hungry, it’s literally because I have been super lazy and haven’t prepped dinner so just beeline for the first bit of junk I see in the fridge; never ideal really.

So I finally have given myself a kick up the ass, It is time to take this Cut seriously!! No excuses, Excuses means no results and right now I want results! I am hoping for a 1lb or 2lb loss each week, a nice steady rate! I am adding in a lot more cardio than I was before and will be tracking everything in My Fitness Pal (check my diary here).

The Stats

So let’s start with the stats. As of today, 14/3/2016 these are my stats:

Height: 5ft 8
Weight: 212.7lbs | 96.4kg | 15st 2lbs
BMI: 32.4
Body Fat: 40.5%
Lean Mass: 126.5lbs lean / 86.1lbs fat
* All the stats above come from my Fitbit Aria Scale.

Now for accountability, my photos. This is me in all my glory at 212.7lbs. I am sure you can appreciate my granny pants and such, but this is just a new starting point for my cut for me to look back on and hopefully see results, so no unkind words if you please!

The Plan

So after playing with some macro calculators, I worked out that I can be eating around 2000kcals a day including exercise. So this means a week around 14000kcals, with  of exercise 7 days a week. I am adapting this to around 1700-1900kcals a day, with my 7 days of exercise.

Macro’s wise 146g protein, 195g carbs, 65g fat is 1950kcals a day, so I am just going to aim to hit 140g protein at the moment and not track the others too strictly, but still aiming for a higher deficit so again, 1700-1900kcals a day. I aim to drink 3 litres minimum of water, trying to cut diet soda out, (Coke Zero I am looking at you!) and just make healthier choices.

Exercise wise, I am again following Lee Lebrada’s 12 week program, as I loved it so much, and just adding in a lot more cardio, even if its 10-15mins before I workout and then my rest days will be cardio only days!

Goals

Realistically I would love to be in one-derland by May 23rd (10 weeks today) so that would be getting under 200lbs! The miracle goal would be hitting 190lbs but at 1lb a week loss, that’s 10lbs so I definitely feel that is 200lbs is achievable as long as I stay on track!

So thats my plan for my cut! I will be posting updates on this, with weigh-in’s and stats so keep an eye out! Also make sure you have a look at my post on how I lost 50lbs, you can see the before photo of when I was 261lbs 😐

If you have any questions regarding a ‘Cut’ or anything fitness related please leave them below! I would love to know if any of you lovelies are currently ‘Cutting’!

Good for you! I have a huge amount of respect for people who decide to do something like this AND document it! It says you mean business. If I have one tip for you- as someone who decided to incorporate exercise into my weekly routine six years ago and stuck to it- it would be to start slowly, aim small so as not to push yourself too much. Once you start seeing changes which you will, aim bigger!!!! Good luck!

Thank you for the good luck! I have been exercising 7 days a week since september now, I literally love working out and lifting weights so now its second nature! I couldnt bare to miss the gym, thats why my workouts come so easy! I am day 5 of my cut and had a midweek weighin (naughty i know) but already 3.4lbs down :)!

I’m in the process of trying to lose weight and be healthier. It’s so difficult for me for some reason. Of course my genetics are completely against me but finding the time to workout and make healthy food seems to be impossible some days. I think you have a fantastic body shape, and it’s great that you’re trying to be healthier! You’ve already done so great! Truly inspiring.

Do you like you Fitbit Aria scale? I’ve thought about getting one. I too have been on a fitness journey since the first of the year. Am down 27 pounds so far and feeling so much better. Good luck and keep up the good work! I am visiting from the Facebook blog engagement group.

Thats incredible!! Well done you on your progress!! I personally prefer the withings scales, however the fitbit aria scales are good! If you have a fitbit its handy but if you dont, I definately prefer the withings wireless ones! x
